Byron
Byron
During my hiatus I didn’t mention the fact that we bought a dog. We bought a gorgeous moyen poodle from Karbit Poodles. We had been tossing around the idea for years but I just think we finally felt that the time was right.
Why a Poodle Poodles are a good match for allergy sufferers (me) and they’re very intelligent, trainable, and athletic which was a strong requirement for Lauren. Like most people I had that French foo-foo conception of a Poodle but that’s not true! A Poodle is a working dog: bred to be an assistant to subsistence fishermen in marshy estuaries (like the Thames).

Late Summer Trip to Rockaway Beach With Byron
Sunday we had a warm spell here in NYC and my lovely wife came up with the idea that we should, all three of us make a run down to Rockaway Beach and enjoy the warmth, surf, and sun.
Per NYC rules, dogs are allowed on-beach, on-leash after Labor day. So we three packed up and headed down. We started with a stop by our local pizza slice place, Perfecto Pizza. We boxed up our food and took the 2-train down to Wall Street.
Byron’s gotten really good about getting into his “travelin’ bag” so it was a pretty uneventful trip.
Basking Byron
Byron basking in his bed in our new bedroom. We often compare his habits to the bathing habits of the ancient Romans who would heat up in a hot bath (caldarium) before shocking their systems with a leap into a cold pool (frigidarium).
We like to say “Byron’s in the caldarium.”
