Here’s my closet and a helpful reference for any would-be Pax builders on the internet looking for some help.

Blank wall. It's plaster on masonry here. Notable challenges are that the wall is not even (bowing outward closer to the bed). Additionally, we have crown molding on the bottom that projects out between 2" to 2¾". Oh yeah, and the floor is not level (slopes downward, leftward).

Mount three segments of 2x4. We bored about 1" into the wall, put anchors in and then sent 2½" screws through the 2x4 and into the anchor. This means we have a level-ish plane into which the support brackets in the IKEA Pax can moor.

With two Pax units built, we place them and clamp them. We also insert shims to account for un-level floor. Additionally, we drove the joining bolts between the two units. At this point, a level (not pictured) confirmed that we'd shimmed appropriately and had effectively one unit.

Put some of the accessories in: storage shelves, clothing rod, pull-out double-decker shoe tray. Aforementioned Stanley level and DeWalt drill bit set and coffee mug were also vital to this effort.

Pretty-well filled in. Boxes in lower-right are stand in for mesh drawers coming. COVID's impact to shipping was felt there. Note the roller mechanisms already installed.
