Paris: The 19th
On our final full day in Paris, we visited the Musée d’Orsay and took a long walk around the Seine near the Trocadero and Eiffel Tower. It was an unusually sunny and warm day, and Paris was reveling in it.
After the long walks of the day and night before, we woke leisurely for our entry appointment at the Musée d’Orsay. We walked (again) across the Tuileries, across the d’Orsay bridge and arrived for our appointment. I hadn’t been to the d’Orsay since the 90’s and had forgotten just how outstanding their collection is. It’s really a wonderful synopsis of what happened “after the Louvre” but “before NYC’s MoMa.”
After our tour was complete, we had lunch at Le Drop on the rue de Bellechasse just a few blocks away from the museum. It was so warm and sunny we decided to revisit one of our visited spots from our last visit: the Trocadero Gardens. We hopped on le Metro and soaked up sun and photos from that vista along the Seine. As afternoon fell, we went back to the hotel and packed up for our early morning departure. In search of dinner and thoroughly exhausted of fancy dining we caved for le McDo (not pictured below 😄) and against all snobbery, the McBaguette Boeuf (so reports Lauren) is pretty damn good. I was more conventional in my tastes going for le Big Mac. I guess we were warming our systems up for an American return.
