You couldn’t shut up for weeks and weeks about how USC had it in the bag. Just because the school is in the backyard of your corporate parent’s theme park, that’s no excuse to downplay the blood, sweat, and grit of my alma mater, The University of Texas.
I am so proud of those men out there, and I enjoyed paying my Chili’s tab to the USC cheering waiter with my Texas Ex charge card.
I looked into that mass of orange bodies, their hands moving to “The Eyes of Texas” in unison and I remembered the sunny days on the bleachers at Memorial Stadium, the windy ass-cold days in late October (usually the Tech game, who knows why), and how that song was the backdrop to a moment where the students and the players and all the spectators knew that somehow an “us” was being created.

what a nerve-wracking and awesome game. hey steve, rich was actually there for the game, he and his dad flew out there, that must have been incredible.
don’t mean to be a sour winner (or sour fan of winners), but the whole telecast was slanted towards USC; old reggie bush and USC highlight reels, repeated shots of Leinart’s dad, commentators going on and on about Pete Carroll’s amazing comeback abilities, Reggie Bush greatest of all time, blah blah blah. talking about the missed review on the downed knee over and over when they only mentioned once or twice the interception we should have had.
i feel relieved for Pino, if we’d lost by the number of points that he missed in kicking Austing would be missing one short small white boy this morning.

My favorite halftime comment was something to the effect of “USC has them right where they want them.”
Notice how fast the commentators lost their USC man-crush when the clock ran out?

What a game! Poor officiating, but seems that they made mistakes on both sides.
Couldn’t stand the slant towards USC! Kept showing their sidlines, not UT’s. Kept talking about Pete and not Mack! Kept talking about Matt and Reggie and not Vince! The stats declares “how they were held”. Maybe USC had not met a team like TEXAS before! Vince’s interviews were class! Can’t say the same for Leinart’s. Poor sport. My opinion of him changed after that. Not classy anymore.
As you know my heart bleeds “orange”. There is nothing that stirs me like “The Eyes of Texas”, Bevo, and the horns on the field!
What a trip! Thank you to Mack and the team for bringing home the title!

i didn’t catch any of the post-game, what did Leinart say exactly? heard something like ‘i still think we’re the better team’ or some such nonsense.

“I still think we’re a better football team. They just made the plays in the end.”
