I was born in Texas, I currently reside in Texas.
My entire life there’s been been one woman, and fellow Longhorn, who has made public service a core part of her life ( and getting rich in banking or oil, or both; about par for the course for Texipublican candidates ): Kay Baily Hutchinson.
I disagree with her on a great many topics, but I agree with her on more than just a few. Keep in mind that this woman served in the Texas legislature before I was born and has been a serving senator since 1993. Now she certainly had a bit of trouble here in Travis county about some misconduct around state resources used for her campaign, but these were not substantiated in a court of law.
There’s no way Sarah Palin is more qualified than KBH and not giving KBH the chance to politely decline is just an insult to her service record.

Kay lacked the proper credentials for McCain’s MILF (soon to be GILF) ticket.

Perhaps Hutchison already declined? It’s hard to know what happens behind the scenes. She’s mentioned as a gubernatorial candidate in a few years, and perhaps sitting in a brand-spanking new governor’s mansion looks better than breaking ties in the senate?
While McCain doesn’t need Hutchison to grab the Texas vote, is the Alaska vote really that necessary? The choice is baffling on so, so many levels.

i dunno, would think it’s a pretty logical grab for all of the disgruntled Hillary fans who said they’d vote McCain - maybe now they’ll actually do it.

The more I read about Palin’s record, her incidents, and her words, the more convinced I am that she isn’t a very good choice for Veep. She very well could be the death knell for McCain’s bid.
Not to be a fear monger about fear mongers but do we really want to elect an old, ailing McCain to have him die and leave her with the keys to destroy the world a couple times over?
I respect her Right to Life stand and her emphasis on family. I don’t think that is enough experience to lead the country with.
